TraceDetect Closes Series A-1 Financing
SOURCE: TraceDetect Corporation
SEATTLE, Wash - November 13, 2003 – TraceDetect today announced it closed a $1,025,000 Series A extension financing with funding from prominent California venture investors Carl Berg, John Arrillaga and Richard Peery. Past investors Angels With Attitude, Perham Ventures and Vijay Vashee also participated.
"We are extremely pleased with the support we have received,” said Richard Brewer, Chief Executive Officer of TraceDetect. “These funds provide the resources necessary to expand sales of our NanoBand™ Explorer instrument line as well as move forward in the development of our SafeGuard Metal Monitor for process control on metals reclamation equipment and our YieldGuard Metals Monitor™ for in-situ contamination monitoring.”
Manufacturing companies have an acute need for metal detection to save money in both process control product consumption, as well as minimization of waste. However, up until now there has not been an at-line mechanism for analyzing trace metals. TraceDetect’s SafeGuard provides companies with the ability to monitor for trace metals in real-time, saving them money and increasing yield.
“We are actively discussing partnerships for our SafeGuard and YieldGuard™ programs with companies in the semiconductor and food manufacturing arenas where the quality of the end product depends on ultra-sensitive trace metal contaminant control,” Brewer said. “The ability to analyze for trace metal contaminants early in the product manufacturing process can mean millions of dollars in savings by preventing contaminated product. Additionally, real-time determination of metals contaminants allows immediate corrective action to be taken, eliminating costly down-time on the process line.”
Brewer, who joined the company as CEO in late 2002, successfully founded and sold two semiconductor-related companies, ACSI and KTI Chemicals. Brewer was recognized by SEMI, the largest semiconductor industry organization, with a lifetime achievement award in 1996.
About TraceDetect, Inc.
Founded in 1998, TraceDetect, Inc. is a leading provider of on-site trace metals monitoring and analysis equipment. TraceDetect ‘s patented products enable in-field and in-situ detection of trace metal concentrations down to sub-parts per billion (ppb) in the water treatment, industrial process, semiconductor, and chemical manufacturing industries. Unlike traditional metal analysis that requires expensive, off-site laboratory services involving long wait times, TraceDetect offers simple-to-use products with instant analysis results at a fraction of the cost and time.
