Drinking Water Applications
Controlling arsenic treatment costs and process integrity through Automated and Online monitoring
Drinking water quality cannot be compromised. Contaminants such as arsenic, lead, copper, and other heavy metals can jeopardize this quality. Monitor for trace metals with our automated SafeGuard and online ArsenicGuard systems. Our analyzers are fast, accurate and easy-to-use. The detection limits are as low as 1 ppb with excellent correlation to expensive laboratory standards like Inductively Coupled Plasma – Mass Spectrometers (ICP-MS) and Atomic Absorption (AA) systems.
Arsenic Rule now in effect: USEPA regulations require drinking water arsenic levels not exceed 10 ppb.
Historically: obtaining arsenic data has been expensive and labor intensive with delays of weeks waiting for laboratory results.
Today: accurate, low cost arsenic data in real time enables automated onsite arsenic measurement. Our Online and At Line automated analyzers provide complete process control for all arsenic monitoring applications including management of the arsenic removal process and verification of compliance. Drastically reduce operating costs by maximizing the effective lifetime of your arsenic removal media.
Cost Control
Arsenic removal and/or treatment media is expensive to replace, both in terms of time and material costs. ArsenicGuard and SafeGuard control operations costs by minimizing plant downtime and extending the lifetime of your arsenic removal media.
- Real time process monitoring of the arsenic removal provides critical timely data to minimize operations downtime
- Maximize media lifetime with continual arsenic level updates, extend time between costly media replacement or rejuvenation requirements
- Maximize blend efficiencies and minimize treatment usage for lower overall treatment costs
- Reduce labor and sample costs with SafeGuard and ArsenicGuard analyzers
Process Integrity
Providing customers with safe drinking water is of utmost importance. Monitoring the entire arsenic removal process in real time is critical for delivering safe drinking water to your customers.
- Obtain live data at all critical process steps, allowing optimization of the entire arsenic removal/treatment process
- Continually monitor media integrity, immediately identifying spikes and media breakthrough
- Ensure quick detection of declining effectiveness of fast breakdown media (ion exchange, CF)
- Tune blending process to meet target effluent levels
- Monitor overall effluent quality
Automated and Online monitoring in Treatment System Design, Commissioning and Operations
In the field, at your site or in the laboratory, TraceDetect’s online and at line tools provide accurate data to make informed decisions at all phases of your arsenic treatment project.
Treatment System Design
- Develop comprehensive arsenic database for site(s)
- Conduct ongoing monitoring of wells to determine arsenic variation over time Assess opportunities to utilize active blending as an option to treatment
- Assess target blend ratios from comprehensive and updated database
Treatment System Commissioning
- Validate baseline data
- Develop or update comprehensive arsenic database for site(s)
- Validate operations with complete profile at all process steps: influent, contactors, effluent
- Tune blend ratio’s using updated arsenic database for maximum cost effectiveness
Operations
- Ongoing monitoring program and system “state of health” reports
- Ongoing operations efficiency program
- Analyze design versus actual data
- Recommend/adjust media replacement period, blend ratios, backflush process
- Process Integrity
- Operations Cost Control
